I am not apparent on the final bit in the sentence, "which just one would be the best". I assumed it is similar for the clause in "I'm about to protect the things they are", the order of object and the verb is reversed (I forgot exactly what the grammatical term is), "which 1 will be the best" should really in its place be some thing like "which ju
